Treeverse is an NFT gaming project, which came on my radar recently when they released a snippet of their combat mechanics. I was so impressed I immediately started researching the project. I had to know more. It looked like Zelda, and the promise of having a stake in some form of crypto Zelda is too exciting to ignore.
Built by Endless Clouds, the game is being built as a free to play, mobile MMORPG. There are also plans to bring the game out on PC, bringing in a larger audience. The release of the game is planned for the end of 2022.
Endless Clouds, is a large gaming design team headed up by Loopify, a well known and well respected figure within the crypto space. A quick look at the Team section of the treeverse website, reveals that the team is large, and is made up of doxxed team members, some of whom have links to LinkedIn so you can check out their credentials.
Releasing monthly updates on their Progress to date the team is very transparent. There have been eight of these reports released to date and they contain a variety of details on how the project is going, including updates on bugs that the team has been dealing with and updates of concept art for the game. The art looks good and combined with the gameplay trailer bodes well for the finished game.
Within the Treeverse ecosystem there have so far been three collections released, Namely Treeverse Plots, NFTrees, and Timeless Characters. Each of these collections has been released with intention and with a specific use case in mind. Essentially Plots are your home in the Treeverse Metaverse, NFTress produce fruits for use in game, and Timeless Characters are the in game avatars. Interestingly Timeless Characters will be usable outside if the Treeverse Metaverse as well as in game.
The project is backed by IdeoCoLab, Animoca Brands, and Skyvision Capital. This backing means that the project is not simply reliant on NFT sales and has a good chance of surviving a bear market if NFT sales are not providing the liquidity that they once were.
While it is somewhat speculative and risky to invest in a crypto game that has not yet been delivered, if the game takes off the rewards could be substantial, though patience may be required. In my opinion the ingredients are there for the game to do well, but of course you never know. As always DYOR and don’t invest more than you are comfortable losing.
