Tezos is a treasure trove of legitimate art NFTS. Artists such as Kid Eight of GEVOLs renown, have used Tezos as a more laid back testing ground for their work. Tezos has a few advantages over ETH in this department, in that it is far cheaper than ETH (for most collections), and has a strong and dedicated community. A search of Tezos NFTs on twitter will reveal this group of Tezos diehards, which is a subculture within the subculture of NFTs.

There are a few marketplaces of note on Tezos. The largest marketplace on the chain is Objkt, probably a good place to start your foray into Tezos NFTs. Since the discontinuation of Hic et Nunc (HEN), Objkt has established itself as the number one NFT marketplace on Tezos. Interestingly though, a quick scroll through the front page of the Objkt marketplace reveals that Hic Et Nunc is the number one collection on the platform, and with good reason. Prior to discontinuation, the site was extremely popular, and sales from HEN are being continued on via the Objkt platform.

There are many out there who may be a little confused or jaded by NFTs on ETH, by the 10k animal PFP meta, and may yearn for something a little more artistic in the true sense. Tezos is where this can be found. While there are of course 10k collections on the chain, the predominance is for artworks, both 1/1s and editions. Where art pieces can be expensive on ETH, Tezos at times can feel like thrift shopping, and provides opportunities to develop an honest to god art collection if the collector is willing to put in a little work and find the gems. Don’t get me wrong here either, there are still some pieces on the Tezos blockchain with a hefty price tag.

There are other marketplaces on Tezos besides Objkt. You can find them listed here.
