Perhaps unsurprisingly, there are a number of Ethereum wallets to choose from when getting started with cryptocurrency on the Ethereum network. While there are are several to choose from, the Ethereum market in reality uses a couple of wallets primarily, as they offer the best experience to users in terms of functionality and flexibility.

Metamask is the most widely used wallet amongst Ethereum users, and for good reason. The wallet provides an array of functionalities for users as wallet and also as an Ethereum client interacting with the blockchain.

There are a variety of features provided by the wallet, such as a built in swap feature, making it easy to swap tokens through UniSwap, a decentralised exchange. There have been whispers that users of this swap feature on Metamask may be eligible for a token airdrop by Metamask sometime in the future, but when that will come is a matter of speculation.

Metamask works by being installed as an app on your phone, or as a browser extension. The browser extention on desktop provides full functionality for the wallet, with interaction with your hardware wallet possible through the browser extension (on chrome at least).

The wallet itself is fairly easy to set up, with setup carried out by following the steps on installation. Of course the seed phrase is super important to don’t loose it or type it out on your device etc etc etc.
